Our story

To be a better person than the day before has been at the core of who I aspire to be in my family, community, and life. For me, this is packaged with a desire to make a “cozy and pretty” world around me.

With a creative calling, becoming an eager entrepreneur aligned with something inside of me. carrying a love of color, quilts, and fabric for as long as I can recall….it began with creating quilts for others from the clothing of their loved ones, custom baby quilts. also, using my Tin Lizzie long-arm quilting machine out of the basement of my home, i began providing quilting for others. My daughter, Saralyn, helped fulfill the quilt orders as they grew. Awhile into it, I turned this into my full-time job. my little home-based business grew into creating homemade soaps, bath bombs, beard oils, balms, and gift baskets.

There I was, peddling my entrepreneurial items within my community and a few adjoining communities. The visions in my head began to grow and I soon included homemade pies and cakes, bouquet cakes for birthdays (placing floral arrangements on the tops of cakes), Wedding Cakes, Charcuterie, and other home baked items.

Of course, the vision became larger. Believing our little town could benefit from a quaint brick & Mortar Fabric/Quilt shop. Believing this might possibly bring visitors into our community to shop and aid in the steps being taken to revitalize our downtown. a dream come true, for a while anyway. Life happened, life changed, and so did my spirit.

Fast-forward to the early Summer of 2024. being asked to fill in at the local flower shop making arrangements had been on my bucket list for quite awhile and it happened. Those six days were the happiest days of the previous year and a half. My spirit was lifted.…I was inspired again.

a creative mind never rests. Thoughts and ideas started swirling. You don’t just get them, and they go away…. they tug at your mind and heart, at least for me. it’s the tapestry fronm which I was created. It drives me crazy, yet I also cherish it because it makes me feel alive. Not a day goes by that I do not seek and enjoy color, design, textures, patterns, recipes and creating. And, always keeping with the “secret ingredient” being love.

This is the point where “Simply Blissed” became “Simply Blissed n’ Blooms.” With my daughter’s encouragement, I decided to re-open the fabric shop right here on my home property and integrate it with a floral shop. My daughter created my very first website….she included a blog section. For some reason, she’s wanted me to create a blog for year. once the kinks are worked out with adding the floral shop I hope to regularly add blog content.

My quaint business motto, “Always follow your path to bliss,” is one I do my best to live out each day. On days I don’t achieve it, I do my best to be a better human the next day.
